Welcome to historic Alamance County, NC. Located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, Alamance County is home to 153,000 residents spread across the towns and cities of Burlington, Graham, Mebane and Elon. Other communities and villages include Haw River, Swepsonville, Ossipee and Snow Camp. Alamance County offers a number of attractions. The Sword of Peace located in Snow Camp is an outdoor drama that tells the story of Quakers during the American Revolution. Other attractions of interest include the Textile Heritage Museum, the Dentzel Carousel (built in the early 1900’s) located at the Burlington City Park, Company Shops Depot in Burlington, Three College Observatory, etc. Numerous recreational activities are available to county residents including lakes, parks, and rivers. The Alamance-Burlington School System operates a total of 36 schools in the county – 20 elementary, 7 middle and 9 high schools. There are currently three Charter Schools as well. Additionally, the county includes two higher education institutions. Alamance Community College in Graham and Elon University.
